In optoelectronic safety systems, the transmitter and receiver are located in two separate housings. A protective field of infrared rays emitted by the transmitter is analysed by the receiver. If the protective field is interrupted (by an object or a person), a stop signal is triggered immediately and the machine stops.
The SLB 240 and SLB 440 series safety light barriers are extremely compact and feature integrated evaluation. Thanks to their extremely small design, they blend in well with the surrounding structure and can be installed quickly and easily even where space is limited. The compactness is by no means at the expense of range: both variants achieve a range of 15 metres. The SLB 440-H model has a range of up to 75 metres and is optionally available with an integrated heater for use in extremely low temperatures.
All SLB photoelectric barriers have fail-safe integrated semi-conductor outputs (2 x PNP) and can be incorporated directly in the safety circuit without external safety monitoring. In accordance with IEC 61496, the new product range fulfils all requirements for all type 2 and 4 applications.
All versions have a visual set-up aid in common to simplify commissioning. The SLB versions come with a 4-fold coding stage, with which up to 4 sensor pairs can be operated in one direction on one application without mutual interference. Parameterisation can take place without any aids such as commissioning systems or computers - it is simply carried out using a command device (push-button). For operation, the user can access the automatic or restart, set-up and diagnostic modes.
The Schmersal Group offers various accessories such as deflecting mirrors, floor stands or mounting brackets for the SLB safety light barriers and other optoelectronic safety devices.
