SAFETY SWITCH WITH SEPARATE ACTUATOR

Safety switches with separate actuators are widely used in the entire production. They are specially designed for guards that can be removed or moved sideways and rotated and only ensure the necessary safety at the workplace when closed. They are used in many types of machine tool, for example, as they require frequent access to the hazardous zone for the purpose of machine operation. The safety switches can also be retrofitted to finished profiles.

DESIGN AND MODE OF OPERATION OF SAFETY SWITCHES WITH SEPARATE ACTUATOR

In contrast to category 1, category 2 safety switches in accordance with EN ISO 14119 are not structurally connected to each other, but are only functionally separated or combined during switching. If the operator opens the safety door, the actuator is disconnected from the basic device. This forces normally closed contacts to open and normally open contacts to close in the safety switch.

The safety switches with separate actuator represent a core area of the Schmersal Group's product portfolio. The range of different series is correspondingly broad. Various designs and sizes can be offered. The materials used, the number of safety contacts, the type of connection and the integration of additional functions also differ depending on the series and model.

SAFETY SWITCH ALSO WITH AS-I SAW INTERFACE AND ATEX CERTIFICATION

All safety switches with separate actuator from the Schmersal Group comply with protection class IP67 as a minimum, i.e. they are dust-tight and protected against temporary immersion. In conjunction with a corresponding safety relay module, performance level d or e in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1 can also be achieved. Versions with an integrated AS-i SaW interface (AS-Interface Safety at Work) are also part of the company's safety programme, as are ATEX-certified versions for use in potentially explosive environments. The Schmersal Group provides detailed information on individual safety switches in its online catalogue.
