SAFETY SENSORS FOR MACHINES

In contrast to category 2 electromechanical safety switches, safety sensors for machines enable non-contact position sensing of safety doors. This is particularly advantageous for machines that are exposed to high levels of dust and dirt and in hygiene-sensitive areas such as the food industry. Both electronic and magnetic safety sensors consist of a sensor and a target that communicate with each other without touching. If the target is detected by the sensor, the safety door and safety circuit are closed. The machine can be put into operation. The electronic safety sensors of the CSS and RSS series offer increased tolerance to safety door misalignment, enable the provision of diagnostics-relevant information and simplify safe signal evaluation. Another argument in favour of using these safety sensors for machines is the increased level of tamper protection provided by individual coding.
