OUTPUT EXTENSIONS: SRB SERIES

The safety relay modules in the PROTECT SRB series safely evaluate switching signals from E-STOP buttons, safety and position switches, guard locking devices and other signalling devices. A major advantage of the SRB modules is their universality: they are compatible with safety switching devices from all manufacturers and monitor their signals. The output extensions of the SRB series from Schmersal are used for the safe evaluation of E-STOP circuits according to category 0 and 1 in accordance with EN 60204-1. There are also versions without drop-out delay for duplicating contacts that fulfil category 0 according to EN 60204-1.

OUTPUT EXTENSIONS SRB: STRUCTURE AND MODE OF ACTION

The output extensions, which are equipped with an adjustable drop-out delay, fulfil category 1 in accordance with EN 60204-1 and are used, for example, for the safe shutdown of frequency-controlled drives. Depending on the external wiring, the protective device can be protected up to category 4 in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1. The extensions work with conventional relay technology and are internally redundant. They also contain safety relays with positively driven monitored contacts. The enable paths are formed by relays connected in series. In addition, the output extensions are equipped with LEDs that indicate different operating statuses to the user.

Schmersal offers various versions of the SRB series output extensions in its extensive range. The SRB401EM series is available in two versions for rated operating voltages of 115 or 230 volts and each is equipped with a signalling output. The SRB402EM model, on the other hand, has two signalling outputs. The PROTECT SRB programme also includes input extensions and safety relay modules with intrinsically safe monitoring circuits. The latter are suitable for use with switchgear in potentially explosive atmospheres.
